Nanotechnology, metamaterials, electrochemical etching of II-VI, III-V semiconductors, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), semiconductor nanostructuring for optoelectronics and photonic applications.


Dr. Eduard MONAICO, researcher, graduated from the Technical University of Moldova, M.Sc. in Microelectronics, June 2002, received his PhD at the State University of Moldova, July 2009. In 2006 he was awarded the State Award of the Republic of Moldova in the field of Science and Engineering for young scientists. He has been awarded gold and silver medals at various international exhibitions such as Salon International des Inventions, Geneve; World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and new Technology, EUREKA; INPEX Pittsburgh, PA USA; AGEPI exhibition “Info-Invent”. He has been involved in the implementation of 5 international projects including CRDF, INTAS, STCU. His research interests are in the area of nanotechnology, photonics, electrochemical etching of II-VI, III-V semiconductors, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, semiconductor nanostructuring for optoelectronic, photonic and biomedical applications.
Among his competences one can mention characterization of nanostructured semiconductors and metals using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Raman scattering and luminescence. He have experience in exploration of morphology and chemical composition of semiconductor compounds and metal alloys, study of Raman scattering, photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence in wide band gap nanostructured semiconductors.
He have experience in technology and materials characterization using such facilities as Scanning Electron Microscope, electrochemical etching setup Elipor with double cell, Impendence spectroscopy, Keithley 6430 and 590 for I-V and C-V characterisation respectively, photolithographic setup, thermal annealing, LTS-22-C-330 cryostat, photoluminescence setup.
